Curriculum:

Our curriculum is designed to spark a “creative high” through immediate results, followed by the technical and historical depth to master the craft.

Session 1: The Masterpiece. We head straight to a secluded coastal outcrop during peak Golden Hour. Under direct mentorship, you will compose and capture your “hero shot” immediately. By focusing on the result first, we ignite the passion that makes the technical details feel like a privilege, not a chore.

Session 2: The Mechanics. Now that you’ve seen what’s possible, we deconstruct the “how.” We dive into the tools that capture the glow—ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed—using your Day 1 photos as the case study. This session includes a clinic on high-end E-Bike handling for trail access.

Session 3: The Heritage. We ground your technical skills in Laguna’s history as an artist colony. We visit Heisler Park and landmarks of the Plein Air movement, studying how the masters of the 1920s used the same light you are capturing today.

Session 4: The Narrative Portfolio. In a final sunrise session, you take the lead. Utilizing your technical proficiency and historical context, you will scout a location and execute a three-image “narrative series” that tells a cohesive story of the Laguna shoreline.

Bonus Session: The Digital Darkroom. A relaxed, virtual “lounge” session where we polish your portfolio. We’ll cover high-end editing techniques in Lightroom to ensure your captures are gallery-ready.

• Please bring your preferred camera (DSLR, Mirrorless, or high-end Smartphone), comfortable athletic layers for the shifting coastal breeze, sturdy closed-toe shoes for light trail riding, and a reusable water bottle. A creative appetite and an adventurous spirit are mandatory.

• We provide a premium Electric Bike and helmet, specialized photography filters for coastal glare, all necessary beach and trail permits, light refreshments, and a curated digital map of Laguna’s most iconic, hidden “Plein Air” photography locations.

About The Setting

We begin each adventure at our flagship facility, located just a block from the surf in the heart of Laguna Beach. Our center features private parking, outdoor showers, and a comfortable staging area. From here, we glide toward the rugged cliffs and pristine tide pools of North Laguna. Detailed arrival instructions and a “light forecast” will be sent 24 hours before your first departure.
